The Rev. Dr. James D. McLeod, Jr.
Our multitalented pastor is known to all as “Jamie.” He brings a diversity of gifts and knowledge to his ministry at Cahaba Springs Presbyterian Church. Jamie is a pastor, theologian, writer, teacher, and musician.
Jamie grew up in Lumberton, North Carolina and was actively involved in the life of his church in choirs, youth group, and mission trips. He graduated from Clemson University in South Carolina, and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Kentucky. He earned a PhD in Theological, Historical, and Ethical Systems at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. His ordination and first pastorate were at First Presbyterian Church in West Plains, Missouri. He has also served as pastor of the United Presbyterian Church in Amsterdam, New York, and the First Presbyterian Church in Anniston, AL, before beginning his ministry at Cahaba Springs in Trussville in 2018.
Jamie is a talented singer and musician, adept at playing stringed instruments, especially mandolin and guitar. He is an avid reader and a skilled teacher and writer.
Jamies is married to Dr. Lesley Ann Earles, who teaches Family Therapy and serves as Interim Pastor for another Presbyterian Church. Together they have three beloved children.
