Presbyterian Women-Special Recognition

Anne Thomas_edited.jpg

During the worship service on June 13, 2021 Anne Thomas, a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, was honored by the Presbyterian Women of CSPC.  Anne had no inkling that she was about to be recognized by her fellow Presbyterian Women.

Married for 59 years to Wayne Thomas, they have 2 daughters, 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  Anne is a retired RN and a Master Gardner.  Despite her busy life she has been committed to the work of the Presbyterian Women for many years at Huffman Presbyterian Church, Grace PC and Cahaba Springs PC.

Always smiling and upbeat, Anne has shared her leadership skills by enthusiastically chairing various PW planning committees, taking minutes, leading Bible studies and rolling up her sleeves wherever assistance or encouragement was needed.

Rev. Sue Westfall, Interim Executive Presbyter of Sheppards and Lapsley Presbytery, shared her recollections of her own mother’s experiences as a Presbyterian Woman and reminded the congregation of the amazing work that the PW has done in mission, fund-raising and education around the world.  Then Rev. Westfall called Anne to come forward to receive a gold pin and a framed certificate declaring Anne Thomas as an Honorary Life Member of the Presbyterian Women.

Following the service a celebration luncheon was enjoyed by all.  Anne’s daughter Cindy Brackenbury read the following letter which Anne had written many year’s earlier:
