Calling all visual artists and photographers: The Cahaba Lily Gallery at Cahaba Springs Church in Trussville, Alabama, is hosting an art show For April–May–June 2021. The theme is Pandemic Art: Healing the Heart. The art does NOT need to represent the actual Covid-19 virus scientifically or literally but needs to be what you, the artist, created to help you navigate through this weird time in our lives. What art did you make that made you feel better, or divert your thinking or challenged you to do something in a different way? How did you keep creatively busy? Artist’s Statement Required? YES. In thinking about how you were artistically creative during 2020 and how making art made you feel better, please write a short statement about that. I will take your statement and make a small sign to hang with your work so that when people look at it they will know a little more about you, the artist. Who can enter? ANYONE Cost to enter? NO COST
You MUST email me at artypants@aol.com to be in this art show. A show list will be compiled based on email responses and further communication will be via email. When is the deadline to enter? March 25, 2021. What type of art can be submitted? Paintings, drawings, collages, mixed media, fibre arts, printmaking, and photographs, (8” x 10”or larger) How many may I enter? YOU MAY ENTER UP TO 6 PIECES. What are the size limitations? ANY SIZE FOR VISUAL ART. PHOTOGRAPHS SHOULD BE 8”x 10” OR LARGER ON PAPER, CANVAS, etc. Let me know if you need to borrow a frame/mat from the church for the 8 x 10 size. Laura will frame and hang it for you. ALL art must be framed/ready to hang with wiring on the back. Your name and your phone number must be on the back. Where/When should the art be delivered? You may drop off the art at 114 North Mall, Trussville, AL, on the side porch. Text me (205-601-0327) so I will know it is there and I can get it inside ASAP. You may also deliver it to the church on March 22–23; 9–4 or March 24–25; 9–12. 6110 Deerfoot Parkway, Trussville, AL 35173. Because of Covid-19 and risks involved, we will not have an in-person reception. You may visit the gallery at a time convenient for you.
